Julian Edelman Documentary Premieres In Foxborough

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Patriots' sixth Super Bowl win has been a storybook ending for star receiver Julian Edelman, who was named MVP—but the year leading up to the Super Bowl was anything but storybook for #11.

Edelman has chronicled those tough times, along with his strong relationship with his father, in the documentary "100%: Julian Edelman," which airs on Showtime at 9 p.m. Friday.

On Thursday night, WBZ NewsRadio's Kim Tunnicliffe attended the red carpet premiere of the documentary at the Showcase Cinema in Foxboro—where everyone from Patriots figures like Robert Kraft and Rob Ninkovich to rapper Snoop Dogg showed up.

The documentary is funny, yet poignant—and not at all conventional. It details Edelman's life growing up with a tough dad, who pushed him to be the best he could be.

The film details a couple of low points for Edelman, including recovering from ACL surgery and being suspended for four games.

"I felt I was pretty mentally tough this whole year, it was a tough year," Edelman told reporters on the red carpet. "When you sit back and you watch it, there were some lonely nights. To be able to have a support group like I've had, my family and my friends, to have them and to lean on them? Pretty cool to see on film."

Edelman said it's all about getting back up when life gets you down.

"Life is about adversity and overcoming it," Edelman said. "Any time I've gotten to any high point, there's been so many bumps in the road."
