DEDHAM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Karen Read and her father William backed her defense team after a hearing that could have seen one of her lawyers dismissed from the case.
Both sides convened in Norfolk Superior Court on Tuesday after a pre-trial hearing was abruptly ended by Judge Beverly Cannone citing "grave concerns". It came after the prosecution accused Read's lawyer Alan Jackson of lying to the court and scripting questions for two crash expert witnesses during her first trial. Jackson could be removed from the case if it's found he lied to the court.
In Tuesday's hearing, the prosecution argued there were gaps in communication between Jackson and the experts while the defense argued the Commonwealth had made mistakes. The hearing ended without a ruling and another one was scheduled for Tuesday, March 4.

After the hearing ended, Karen Read told reporters she would appeal a decision to remove Jackson from the case.
"I'd be worried to lose any member of my defense team," Karen said. "It would mean an appeal."
Karen's father William was with his daughter in court Tuesday and said he has faith in her defense team.
"They're men of integrity, men of honor," William said. "They have a north star, they have a compass. They're no different than my daughter they know the truth [that] science doesn't lie."
The new trial in Karen Read's murder case is set for April 1.
