CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — It was a big market with little vendors at King Open School in Cambridge Sunday.

The Mini Makers' Market assembled more than 50 artists and crafters—all of them children—to sell their own artwork, with everything from colorful bracelets to knitting to superhero buttons up for sale.

Sara Dana organized the event after seeing similar children's markets and was surprised at the great turnout.

"Quite a few adults have been drawn in to some of the artwork, jewelry," Dana told WBZ NewsRadio.

Dana was also excited about the "idea of having kids learn some of these lessons, both about using their creativity to create things, but then also coming up with pricing models and talking with customers."

Dana's 12-year-old daughter Sydney was equally impressed.

"There’s grownups, kids buying everything," Sydney said. "There’s everyone walking around to see everything, it’s really nice."

Sara Dana told WBZ that the event was such a success, she plans to organize the market every year.

WBZ’s Chaiel Schaffel (@CSchaffelWBZ) reports.
