BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — King Arthur Baking Company, the iconic New England baking business headquartered in Vermont, opened a pop-up store on Newbury Street in Boston Thursday.

“King Arthur Baking Company was actually founded in Boston in 1790,” Marketing Manager Carey Underwood said.

Now, they are back and filling the shelves with flour, starters, and mixers in the city where it all began.

“Once I heard that today was the opening day, I was like I have to get here today just to check it out [and] see how things are,” customer Alexandria said on opening day.

From 30 different kinds of flour to specialty tools, the company hope the one-stop-shop could inspire all bakers.

“Our first customer was thrilled to be able to come in and buy her sourdough starter,” Underwood said. "Coming into fall, the temperature is cooling, and we’re coming into the holidays, we know people are going to be doing a lot of baking.”

Alexandria added that the pop-up means she doesn't have to "browse the grocery store relentlessly trying to find that one specialty product."

The King Arthur Baking Company pop-up is located at 172 Newbury Street until the end of the year.
