BELMONT, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Animal Rescue League of Boston is putting a kitten up for adoption that was discovered in a tricky hiding place.
A car owner in Belmont called animal control after hearing meowing in their driveway, according to ARL. When they popped open their hood, the kitten escaped and hid in a nearby fox den.
ARL said the animal control officer had to play a YouTube video of a cat meowing to lure the kitten out.
The kitten has been named Chevy as a nod to his origin story. He was under two pounds when he was found, ARL said.
Chevy is 8 weeks old and has gained weight at ARL’s Dedham Animal Care & Adoption Center, where he is up for adoption.
ARL said cats seeking shelter in engine compartments is actually quite common, and that car owners should look around the car and bang on the hood to make sure the car is animal-free before hitting the road.
