Large Fire Breaks Out At Metals Recycling Site In Everett

EVERETT, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A large fire broke out Wednesday morning at a metals recycling site in Everett, bringing a heavy plume to the sky.

The fire started around 7 a.m. at Schnitzer Steel Northeast on Rover Street. It is near the Exelon facility in Everett, as well as Encore Boston Harbor.

WBZ-TV Meteorologist Jacob Wycoff reported that the smoke was high enough to be seen on Doppler radar.

Rob lives in the area. "I just saw the smoke pouring out. I live over in the 5th floor across the street. I just saw smoke pouring out," he said.

It is currently unclear what the caused the fire.
