Large Mulch Fire Breaks Out At Landscaping Company Yard

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Boston Fire Department spent several hours battling a large mulch fire that broke out at a landscaping company in Roslindale Saturday evening.

Shortly before 6 p.m. multiple fire units responded to Landscape Express at 415 American Legion Highway, where a huge mound of mulch was billowing smoke.

Due to a lack of fire hydrants in the area, BFD said companies were "relay pumping" to get water to the fire, which were in multiple locations throughout the yard.

"This will be a long night," BFD tweeted at around 7 p.m.

According to the Boston Globe, the fire spread from the initial mulch pile to multiple other locations, and as of Sunday morning, officials were still trying to determine the cause of the fire.

Hopkinton Fire Department said the mulch fire can be a reminder to all of how dry it is out there. "Weather continues to be prime for this type of fire," HFD said. "Be safe everybody."
