LAWRENCE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A commercial building in Lawrence will be coming down after it was destroyed by an overnight fire.
Roger Farah told WBZ NewsRadio's Shari Small he woke up to the news that his brother's building on Broadway was destroyed.
"Somebody called me at last night at 1:20 in the morning to let me know the place was on fire, but my phone was off," Farah said.
Farah's brother leases the property out to Compare Motors, a car lot and repair garage.
Several cars on the lot suffered damage as well.
"It's a total loss," Farah said. "They already asked me to get it set up so that we can tear it down, because it's unsafe."
The cause of the fire was not yet known.
"It's a good thing nothing happened to the other businesses, so everybody else is good," Farah said.
