BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A learning opportunity has arrived in some bars around Boston.
Lectures on Tap is a series event led by Tyrone and Felecia Freely and started back in 2024. The husband-wife duo came up with the idea while Ty was studying at Columbia University.
It brings several scholars of all different areas into casual bar settings, where they give 45-minute-long talks followed by conversation and cocktails.

In just one year, the event has gone viral. They’ve hosted over 80 different speakers, racking up over 20 million views on social media. Felecia said there’s something for everyone in their events.
“We’re in bars all over the city, every night features a different speaker talking about a different topic, but cocktails are always involved,” said Felecia.
The craze has now arrived in Boston, usually taking place at the Trident Booksellers and Café.
Tyrone Freely said the cozy bar conditions can really help get people involved with learning.
“When we change the learning environment to something that’s more conducive, fun, relaxing, and social, it turns the experience of learning up on its head,” said Tyrone. “We’re looking for more unique venues, Trident is an example. They have a hidden passageway, so we’re just able to create this unique experience.”
