HAMPTON, N.H. (WBZ NewsRadio) — For the Memorial Day Weekend, seaside Hampton residents are celebrating the heralding in of summer, but not so much when it comes to getting to the shoreline.

WBZ's Kendall Buhl spoke to plenty of neighbors like John, who had been living in the area for nearly three decades and says it's been great nine months out of the year.

"Well I'm not going to say it's not in the summer, but you definitely learn to deal with things. You have to know when to go shopping— you don't do it at two in the afternoon, because you're not getting off the beach or back in," John said.

There is an easier way to park this year though, the state recently announced that seacoast state parks have new pay-by-phone apps from ParkMobile and Park Smarter. With the new system, guests will not need to display a parking receipt on the dash.

"What usually can take you a minute to get down the road can take you a half hour. I go off the beach, I do— I love it here but I try to get off the beach," said another resident named Denise.

It's a reoccurring narrative, a number of beach residents say they get out of dodge when the weather starts warming up.

"People don't know how to act, especially when summer begins. They all get drunk, they all start fighting, none of them know how to people," said another neighbor.
