BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The man accused of killing two engaged doctors in their South Boston condo two years ago has been found guilty.
Jurors convicted Bampumim Teixeira, 33, on two counts of first-degree murder in the slayings of Dr. Lina Bolanos and Dr. Richard Field in May 2017. He was also found guilty of home invasion, two counts of kidnapping, and two counts of armed robbery.
In a statement, Suffolk DA Rachael Rollins thanked prosecutors for working to hold Teixeira accountable.
"No verdict can ever fill the void created by the violent deaths of Dr. Bolanos and Dr. Fields, but I hope their loved ones today have a sense of finality knowing that the man who stole these lives has been found guilty," Rollins said in the statement. "He will serve the rest of his natural life behind bars and never again will have the opportunity to harm another member of our community."
The day began and ended with outbursts from Teixeira. As the court awaited a verdict, he appeared to shout "You want to know his last words?" several times at Field and Bolanos' family members, who sat visibly upset in the front row, before he was removed from court.
Earlier, he was dragged out of the room after threatening Assistant District Attorney John Pappas and his wife.
"The families of the victims exhibited such grace, dignity and restraint through a grueling trial where the defendant added insult to injury by making outrageous and dishonoring claims about the victims," Rollins said. "The defendant's outbursts today were extremely disrespectful and hurtful to the victims’ families and threatening against the prosecutor and his family. These matters will not be taken lightly and I offer my sincere apology that the families had to endure this egregious behavior."

Prosecutors said Teixeira broke into Bolanos and Field's condo, tied them up, and stabbed them to death.
In their closing arguments, Teixeira's defense team claimed Teixeira was having an affair with Bolanos, that Field killed Bolanos after walking in on them, and that Teixeira killed Field in self defense.
Pappas had claimed last week that that narrative was "utterly absurd."
Teixeira is due back in court Friday for sentencing.
