LITTLETON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A Littleton Police officer used a lasso to rescue a pup that fell through the ice on Long Lake Beach Tuesday morning.

The department, along with Littleton Fire, was called to Long Lake Beach around 10:44 a.m., to find Tuukka struggling in the water off a dock. Officer Brian Casey made a lasso and used it to pull Tuukka from the icy water.

"It was extremely fortunate that Officer Casey was able to get to the scene as quickly as he did and help get Tuukka to safety," Littleton Police Chief Matthew Pinard said in a release. "This is a good chance to remind everyone, whether they have two legs or four, that it’s still too early in the season to be going out on the ice."
