BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A non-native lizard hitched a ride with a car that drove up from Florida last week.
The small Brown Anole lizard was turned in to the Animal Rescue League of Boston. Brown Anoles are native to Florida but not to Massachusetts.
The driver of the car didn't know how the lizard had got into the vehicle, and found it when he got to Massachusetts. It has been transported to a reptile rescue organization in Connecticut.
The Animal Rescue League says non-native species like the Brown Anole should always be taken into a rescue organization, as they can cause untold damage to the environment if they are just released into the wild.
