MEDFORD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Teamsters Union Local 25 partnered with the Medford Family Network, a parenting education and family support organization, to host their annual toy drive on Thursday.
Union members and volunteers carried in bag loads of toys into Medford High School to be passed out to families unable to buy them this year.
“Our members donate toys, and they also give cash donations,” Steven South, the secretary-treasurer of Local 25, said. “And then we have a whole large group of retirees and volunteers that collect those toys, organize them, separate them, and deliver them to all the organizations like Medford Family Network.”

Marie Cassidy, director and family specialist at the Medford Family Network, expressed her excitement in this year’s haul.
“We collect names of families, they tell us what they might need and we are thrilled to be able to do this,” Cassidy said. “Bicycles, dolls, building blocks, play structures, an amazing amount of toys.”
Teamsters also delivered $2,500 worth of gift cards to the Medford Family Network to give out along with the toys.
This was the tenth year that Local 25 and Medford Family Network have worked together for this event.
