MALDEN, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A local ambulance company has received a flood of applications from medical professionals wanting to help distribute the COVID-19 vaccine.
Cataldo Ambulance of Malden is one of the companies that will be vaccinating the public during the vaccine rollout.
The company said it has received around 1100 applications from across the medical world.
Cataldo Vice President Dan Hoffenberg says the company has received applications from EMTs, paramedics, nurses, medical students – and even pharmacists and veterinarians.
“We had a tremendous response from people who want to help out,” Hoffenberg said.
Hoffenberg said the company wants to take on as many qualified medical staff as possible.
First responders such as police and firefighters became eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine on Monday.
