BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Eagles fans in Boston lined up outside a local bar hours ahead of opening and Super Bowl LIX kick off.
“I got here at 11 a.m.,” the first person in line outside of Scores in the West End told WBZ NewsRadio. That’s three hours before the bar opens and seven hours before kickoff.
The Eagles fandom is strong, even here in New England. It's what brought another passionate fan like Will, who was second in line, to wait outside of Scores in the cold as well.
“People walking past all of us saying ‘go birds’ to us as they’re going,” he said.
In a city full of New England Patriots fans, Luke said he’d like his son to experience the excitement dominating the Teal nation right now.
“All his buddies are a bunch of Pats fan,” he said.
Another Eagles fan said this level of anticipation is something Patriots fans might be hard to understand because they are "used to it."
"It's better when you suck for a very long time and you get one year where you’re the man,” he said.
Eagles fans have a history of going all out in Philadelphia when the team makes it to the Super Bowl, with the city even to prevent people from climbing up during celebrations.
“I was there for the 2018 one, and I didn’t really want to relive the chaos,” one long-time Eagles fan said.
Another long-time fan who witnessed the Eagles lose to the Patriots in Super Bowl XXXIX agreed, saying Philadelphia at this time of the year “is not for the faint of heart.”
Being a bystander witnessing the rivalry can be fun too.
“Watching Eagles fans in the wild is the greatest atmosphere of all,” Patriots fan Michael O'Brien said.
The Kansa City Chiefs battels the Philadelphia Eagles for Super Bowl LIX at 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
