BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Boston Police are warning residents living near Boston College and Boston University in Allston-Brighton to stay alert amid a rise in burglaries.
There has been a slew of residential break-ins since Feb. 13, with the unknown suspect targeting mostly cash and jewelry.
One resident told WBZ NewsRadio that he was “kind of surprised about it, [because] this has normally been a pretty safe place, just Boston in general.”
The most recent crime happened on April 3 on Radnor Road in Brighton. Several people reported a male suspect. One report said the suspect was wearing a ski mask.
Authorities are urging community members to keep doors and windows locked, install motion-activated security systems, and avoid leaving valuables in plain sight.
“I come from St. Louis, so I’m used to having a locked door, having to do all that stuff,” another local resident said. “It’s been a struggle making my roommates do it though.”
Another resident added that he "can’t not expect it in such a high earning neighborhood.”
BPD said these incidents are in active investigations.
Anyone with information about these incidents are asked to contact District D-14 Detectives at (617) 343-4256.
