BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — One small business owner took his dream of opening a barber shop and put it on wheels.

From the outside, Symphony Barbers Mobile may just look like a van, but the inside tells an entirely different story, that of a full-fledged barber shop.

The shop has it all, from a 115-year-old chair to mahogany shelves, and even a bathroom.

“[Customers] are blown away, I mean when they first walk inside, they’re like, wow,” said Todd Martin, owner of Symphony Barbers Mobile.

Martin told WBZ NewsRadio that he’s been cutting hair for more than 30 years, and that this van had been a dream of his for years.

He eventually made that dream come true last year.

“For over 20 years, I’ve wanted to do something like this,” Martin added.

Martin also said that his new business model gives him an added level of flexibility over a traditional brick and mortar shop.

“I can pull up right to [the customer’s] driveway, take care of the kids, take care of dad,” Martin also said.

Martin said that he designed the van himself during the COVID pandemic and that he will bring his operation to homes, offices, and events.
