BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Flights across the U.S. are delayed due to staffing issues from the federal government shutdown.

Despite the nationwide delays and cancellations, Massport said Logan Airport hasn't seen any staffing issues. They added that any current delays are due to runway construction and weather.

WBZ NewsRadio reporter James Rojas went to Logan to speak with travelers in the terminal, surprised by the lack of chaos.

"It's looking fine right now, I'm from LA, coming here my flight was delayed about an hour," Jonah said, visiting from California.

Sue, a Cambridge resident, came to Logan early. She was concerned her flight would be delayed.

"I did worry, I almost thought about just cancelling my trip, so I don't get caught up in this. I'm going to California and then I have to come back, it's really scary to be a traveler right now," Sue said.

To her surprise, Logan seemed to be running normally, with enough staff to keep things up to speed.

"I wonder why though, everybody is impacted that works here, right? They need to make money somehow," Sue said.

The FAA said nearly half of all major U.S. airports are reporting staff shortages. Logan is keeping up for now, but with the U.S. Transportation Secretary warning of more disruptions, only time will tell.

Massport said it will let passengers know if there are any delays due to staffing.
