Londonderry Fire Cleans Up Chemical Spill At Stonyfield Yogurt Plant

LONDONDERRY, N.H. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A chemical spill at a major New Hampshire dairy producer left quite a mess on Tuesday afternoon. The Londonderry Fire Department was called to the Stonyfield Farms plant in Londonderry for a peroxide spill there at about 4:00 p.m.

There firefighters say they found a punctured 300-gallon tank of peroxide in the loading bay when they got to the plant. To make matters worse, the hole was at the bottom of the tank, so all of the peroxide eventually leaked out.

Firefighters called in a HAZMAT team for help cleaning up the chemical. Londonderry Fire says no one was injured and the plant didn't have to be evacuated.

Officials didn't say how the puncture happened.
