IPSWICH, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A substitute teacher at Ipswich High School has been in the business for decades, and at 85 years old he's still going strong.
WBZ's Brooke McCarthy spoke with Jim Seeley, who was recently voted "Most Inspirational" by seniors in the staff superlative section of the yearbook.
"I don't know how they came up with that, I said 'me?' I'm inspirational?" Mr. Seeley said.
But his students doubled down, saying as a matter of fact that seeing Seeley standing at the front of the classroom is a joy.

"Mr. Seeley is always happy. No matter what, you see Mr. Seeley in your class— it's going to be a good class," one student said.
"He comes in everyday with a smile, he loves doing it and he has no plans to stop," said another.
Mr. Seeley worked as a teacher for Salem Public Schools for 30 years, and after retirement, he realized that he missed being there for the students and couldn't stay out of the classroom.
"I started polishing doorknobs— doorknobs for days. I get up in the morning, if my phone doesn't ring to come in I shrink a little bit. I just love it, I can't say it enough— I'm here until I can't go anymore," Mr. Seeley said.
