Lowell Woman Thrown From Wheelchair By Snow Plow Truck Dies

LOWELL, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A man has been hospitalized and a 27-year-old woman has died after they were both hit by a truck with a snow plow attached in Lowell during Saturday's snow storm.

According to the Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan’s Office, Lowell police are investigating the fatal crash that occurred just before 7 p.m. Saturday at the corner of School and Cross Street.

"The preliminary investigation suggests that a 27-year-old female was being pushed in a wheel chair by a male pedestrian when they were struck by a Chevy Silverado with a plow attached," Ryan's office said. "The female victim was thrown under a parked vehicle across the street."

The drivers of both vehicles remained on scene. Ryan's office said both victims were transported to area hospitals.

The female victim was transported to Tufts Medical Center where she subsequently died from her injuries on Sunday morning. The male pedestrian remains hospitalized.
