BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Two rideshare giants have partnered with the Massachusetts Port Authority to launch a brand-new shuttle service at Boston Logan Airport.
The urban shuttle services, available right now, let passengers book individual seats on shared vans that operate on a fixed schedule and route in and around the Boston area.
The service was announced by Massport on Thursday and created to reduce congestion on roadways while offering a cheaper transportation alternative to passengers. Shuttle vans are crafted to fit multiple passengers in a single trip, following a designated route with pickup and drop-off locations.
The Lyft shuttles will provide services along Porter Square, the Cambria Hotel-Somerville, Lechmere, and Logan Airport from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week.
The Uber shuttles will provide services at several locations throughout Central Boston and Cambridge, including North Station, Boston University/Kenmore Square, and Logan Airport from 2 p.m. to midnight seven days a week.
The new shuttle services come as Massport looks to improve HOV travel throughout Boston and improve driving conditions at Logan Airport.
Services are available in the Uber and Lyft apps.
