Lynn Armory To Be Converted To Housing For Veterans

LYNN, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Lynn Armory was built in the late 1800s for soldiers to train—and now, the empty, unused building will serve them again.

The City of Lynn plans to convert the large building into 45 units of housing for veterans.

Jeff Weeden of the Lynn Housing Authority told WBZ NewsRadio's Carl Stevens there's a need for veterans housing, and the building is a perfect fit.

"We're going to be able to take care of them as they took care of us," Weeden said.

Weeden estimates it'll take about a year to get the funding, plus another year and a half for construction.
