LYNN, Mass. (AP) — Police are investigating and parents are upset after a teacher found bullet holes in the walls of a Massachusetts elementary school classroom.
The holes were found Monday in the walls of an annex classroom at Hood Elementary School in Lynn, but police think the damage occurred over the weekend.
Chief Michael Mageary says the preliminary investigation indicates that people may have heard the shots, but didn't report them to police. Police do not think the school was targeted and security has been beefed up.
The Daily Item of Lynn reports that parents who attended a meeting Monday night were upset that the school's alarm system didn't work and they weren't informed about the shooting until the end of the school day.
Superintendent Patrick Tutwiler called the incident "disconcerting."
