LYNN, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — With less than a month to go before the start of the new school year, the Lynn Public School Department is looking to fill several positions.
According to school superintendent Dr. Yvonne Alvarez, the district is looking to hire educators for grades Pre-K all the way through 12th grade. She says the system offers teachers great benefits.
"In this last negotiated contract that went into effect in July, we're really excited to share that we have things such as tuition reimbursement, our parental leave options, we have retirement payouts."

The district needs teachers who specialize in ELA, mathematics, science, and social studies. FOR Interested educators who are concerned about whether Lynn would be a good fit for them, Alvarez says one of the best reasons to teach there is the opportunity to create life-changing opportunities for students.
"In terms of considering teaching in Lynn versus somewhere else, really no better reward than to teach in an urban environment where our students are not just newcomers. Half of our districts are English language learners," Alvarez said. "But to watch students succeed in the way that they do. And the life-changing opportunities that that creates for them are the best reasons to teach in Lynn."
The district hired 200 educators last year, almost three times as many as five years prior. They have about 300 openings to fill for the 2025-2026 school year.
