LYNN, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — On Wednesday, Girls Inc. of Boston hosted more than 100 Lynn middle school girls at the 22nd annual 'Smart Girl Summit.'

The girls came from across the Greater Lynn school system and gathered to meet with and learn from women who have STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)-related careers.

Ziaya Bell is the Stem Coordinator at Girls Inc. She said the summit was all about showing the girls what's possible. "It only takes one spark for someone to see something and say 'I didn't know that was a thing. Maybe that's something I want to do,'" she said.

Massachusetts Secretary of Transportation Monica Tibbits-Nutt was one of the women at the summit meeting talking STEM with the girls.

WBZ's Carl Stevens (@CarlWBZ) reports.
