LYNN, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — After a rainy, windy June and start to July, members of the Lynn Yacht Club cannot wait to hit the water for one of the first enjoyable boating weekends of the summer.
Boaters loaded up coolers full of food and drinks onto their crafts, keeping their fingers crossed that the warm temperatures and sunshine last over the next few days.
"Finally," exclaimed Kristen Matheson. "We’re taking the family out for a cruise of Boston, then we’re going to come back to the docks and have a cookout."
Reminiscing on how rough conditions can turn the friendly seas unfriendly, Matheson warned, "When they say Small Craft Advisory, you listen. Winds like this, you have to be careful out there."
Dick Parker told WBZ NewsRadio that he was looking forward to getting his 42-ft. Silverton Convertible on the water after the recent crummy weather.
"June was awful and the beginning of July wasn’t good either," Parker said. "A lot of rain, a lot of wind, it doesn’t make for nice boating."
"I’m looking forward to it a lot," said Barry, who is planning to spend some bonding time with his son onboard his 31-ft. Ranger Tugs boat. "My son is coming up from Connecticut, we’re going down to Scituate tomorrow; just going to have a boys' weekend."
