30-Car Crash Ties Up I-95 In Maine

CARMEL, Maine (WBZ NewsRadio) — A chain-reaction crash involving 30 vehicles snared traffic on I-95 in Carmel Tuesday morning, Maine State Police said.

Blinding sun is believed to be the cause of the initial crash, which happened around 7:45 a.m.

At least one person was seriously injured and taken to a Bangor, Maine hospital by helicopter. State Police said there were other injuries, but did not say how many or how severe they were.

Several hundred drivers were backed up behind the crash.

I-95 Northbound was back open before noon, but cleanup continues.
