BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Green Line riders are performing the “shuttle shuffle” while the MBTA performs maintenance work over the next two weeks.

Beginning Dec. 8, shuttle buses will replace trains between North Station & Babcock St (B), Kenmore (C+D), & Heath St (E) through Dec. 22.

“I have to walk a little further in the morning, kind of sucks that it’s cold out. It’s a bad time of year to do it,” said Ivan, an Allston resident. “Obviously I don’t know how the infrastructure works, but it terms of delays, it’s not too bad, it’s just an extra ten-minute walk in the cold.”

According to the T’s website, the work will “allow for work on the overhead catenary system, maintenance and upgrades, station brightening, and the continued installation of the Green Line Train Protection System.”

Despite advance notice online, on signage at T stops and speaker announcements, some riders felt blindsided by the shakeup.

“I just learned about it when I got there, and it’s quite inconvenient. I didn’t know about this, and I need to be somewhere at seven,” said Kieran, a BC student.

The MBTA recommends using shuttle buses between Babcock, Kenmore, Heath St (Rt 39) & Copley/Back Bay and the Orange Line between Back Bay & North Station.

“I just have to wake up earlier, and who wants to wake up earlier?” said Kieran.
