Major Salad Recall For E-coli Contamination

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — More than 97,000 pounds of salad with meat or poultry inside have been recalled by the U.S. Department of Agriculture for possible E. coli contamination.

The salad, packaged by Missa Bay, LLC, were made from Oct. 14 through Oct. 16, and were distributed in 22 states including Massachusetts, Maine and Connecticut. All of the salads in the recall are already passed their use-by date.

The recall comes after a Ready Pac Caesar Salad that contained chicken in Maryland came back positive for E.coli. All products from the same lot of lettuce are included in the recall, the USDA says in a statement.

E. coli can cause vomiting and diarrhea, and can be very severe. The USDA does not report any illnesses associated with this recall.
