MALDEN, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) – Malden police are helping a local couple connect with an anonymous donor who helped them replace their stolen bridal shower gifts.

About three weeks ago, the couple’s home was burglarized by a man and woman who stole the gifts.

“Coffee makers, household goods, linens, bedding, several bridal shower-related gifts,” said Detective Rob O’Brien. He acted as the middleman between the couple and an anonymous woman from Austin, Texas.

When she heard about the burglary on Inside Edition, she sent over a dozen replacement gifts to Malden police station.

“It shows that there are still people in the world that are willing to help,” O’Brien said. “This anonymous donor had no connection to the city of Malden or the victims in this case and still found a desire to want to help.”

The donor also left a note with Malden police thanking them for their help in coordinating the massive package delivery.

“As a Psychologist, I say with certainty that is a traumatic event,” the note read. “I send out a nationwide challenge to all behavioral health professionals to meet or beat my donation for this young couple,” it continued.

He added that the bride and groom were thrilled by the act of kindness.

Meanwhile, police are still searching for the suspects involved in the burglary and are asking the public for tips.
