MALDEN, Mass. (WBZ News Radio) — Santon is an award-winning musician blind from birth and autistic.
The Berklee College of Music graduate who lives in Malden is considered a musical savant and just performed at the Larcom Theatre in Beverly.
The 31-year-old has played the piano since he was three. He also plays the violin as well as the bandoneon, a type of concertina, which is similar to an accordion.
Santon has released two albums, holds a degree from Berklee, and performs in front of packed crowds from all over including at the Larcom on Sunday night. “I have no stage fright at all, just excitement to perform,” he said.
Santon’s mother Juliette said her son practices for hours every day and is an inspiration to others. “I am very proud of him,” she said. “He is very persistent and hardworking.”
