Man Allegedly Stabs Another Over Parking Spot At Chelsea's Market Basket

CHELSEA, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A man from Revere was charged in Chelsea District Court on Tuesday for allegedly stabbing someone in the lot of the local Market Basket over a parking spot.

25-year-old Victor Rojas Avalo faced charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (knife) for an altercation that unfolded Sunday afternoon. Avalo was ordered to stay away from the victim and the concerned Market Basket— his bail had been set to $500.

According to a statement from the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office, Avalo attacked the victim at around 5 p.m. on Sunday after the two had argued over a parking spot in front of the grocery store. Police were called and upon arrival, officers found the victim bleeding profusely from a wound in his back.

Later on, Avalo was located and arrested in his hometown of Revere.

The suspect is expected to return to court on March 22 for a pre-trial hearing.
