MEDFORD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — On Monday night, a 22-year-old man allegedly attacked and stabbed women he lived with, causing injuries of varying severity.

The Medford Police Department responded to 22 Doane Road for an emergency call that reported one household member had attacked another just outside their home. According to responding officers, the first victim was forced from the front steps to the front yard where she was assaulted, pushed to the ground, and stabbed multiple times.

Police say another member of the household had seen what happened and rushed outside to help the victim. At that time, the suspect, later identified to be Jace Cherchi, allegedly grabbed another housemate and stabbed her multiple times too. According to WBZ-TV, the first victim is Cherchi's mother, while the second is his sister— both sustained non life-threatening injuries.

The third and final victim says she saw the attack and yelled for the suspect to stop, while trying to intervene. Officials say Cherchi then turned on her and stabbed her at least three times, resulting in injuries that "are more serious and will require surgery."

Arriving officers were told the attacker was still inside the home, but there was no sign of the suspect after a K-9 Unit and police search. According to police, the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority Transit Police located Cherchi at South Station and placed him under arrest to be charged on counts of assault, kidnapping, and witness intimidation.

Cherchi was schedule to be arraigned on his charges Tuesday morning in Somerville District Court.
