Man Injured After Falling Down Rocks At Gloucester Quarry

GLOUCESTER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Gloucester Police say a man fell down the rocks at a quarry by Plum Cove School Saturday morning.

The 35-year-old man had been swinging on a rope swing. He fell after the rope broke around 10:30 a.m.

According to authorities, the man sustained significant injuries.

First responders navigated down rocks on the quarry to rescue the men.

“Our police officers and firefighters worked tirelessly to transport this individual to a safe location,” Gloucester Fire Chief Eric Smith said in a statement. “Walking down those rocks, especially while transporting an injured person was challenging and required perseverance and teamwork from each of them.”

The man was medflighted to a hospital in Boston.
