PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A 37-year-old man was shot to death inside a restaurant in Providence, Rhode Island off of Broad Street.

Cmdr. Thomas Verdi told the Providence Journal the shooting happened Saturday morning in Roque’s Café, and police responded at around 9:00 AM.

The death marked the city’s 19th homicide this year. It's one of several shootings in Providence in the last four days: one shooting happened on Thursday night, and two others on Friday leaving 3 men injured, according to the AP.

"My heart goes out to the families of the two individuals impacted by these acts of senseless violence in the last 24 hours,'' Mayor Jorge Elorza said in a statement to The Providence Journal on Saturday.

"I commend the Providence Police who are working to identify and hold those responsible for these incidents accountable," he said.
