Manhole Explosion Cuts Power To Nearly 60 Businesses In Jamaica Plain

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) – Power was restored to an area in Jamaica Plain that lost it from an unusual circumstance.

A manhole, that caught fire and exploded on Centre Street on Thursday, knocked out the power for an entire row of businesses on the street.

Eversource crews reported to the scene where they estimated 60 customers in the area lost power.

Eversource spokesperson Chris McKinnon told WBZ NewsRadio that power was restored to all impacted customers overnight.

Vee Vee, one of the businesses in the area, announced on its Facebook page that they were closed Thursday night because of the explosion.

No injuries were reported from the incident.
