Mansfield Police Warn Residents Of Card Skimmer At Cumberland Farms

MANSFIELD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Mansfield Police have warned residents about a card skimming device found in a Citizens Bank ATM inside a Cumberland Farms.

Police said that "a sophisticated skimming device" was discovered at the Cumberland Farms at 30 Chauncy Street.

They did not know how long the device had been there, and they advised residents to check their debit and credit card statements and to notify their bank about a potential breech.

Residents were asked to reach out to the Mansfield Police Department's business line with any questions or concerns.

After learning about the card skimmer, Mansfield residents shared their reactions and concerns with WBZ NewsRadio’s Chris Fama.

This Mansfield woman, who has been a victim to a card skimmer in the past, said she can’t help but think of the incident every time she reaches into her purse for her card.

Another Mansfield resident was angry about the situation. “They’re scum, they really are," she said, speaking about the criminals behind the card skimmers.

Other residents shared how alarming the news was since they go to that Cumberland Farms often. “I was kind of stunned because I was here last night.”

Another person added, “I’m here every morning.”

Yet another Mansfield resident explained how the situation "makes you mad."

Because of card skimming concerns, some people said that they're now avoiding using cards altogether. “I just use my cash," said one woman.
