Manuela Schär Wins Women's Wheelchair Division For Second Consecutive Year

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Manuela Schär is the champion for the Women's Wheelchair Division at the 126th Boston Marathon.

This victory marks Schär's second consecutive win in Boston and her fourth overall, having also won in 2017 and 2019. She finished this year's race with a time of 1:41:08 which was over five minutes faster than the second-place finisher.

When she won in 2017, Schär set a course and world record by finishing the Marathon with a final time of 1:28:17 in 2017. In her win last year, she finished nearly 15 minutes before the second-place finisher.

Schär competed for her native Switzerland in the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokoyo and took home five medals, including gold in the 400 and 800-meter races and silvers in the 1500 meter, 5000 meter, and the marathon.
