MARBLEHEAD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Last summer, the Massachusetts Attorney General approved a Summer Gas Leaf Blower ban from Memorial Day to Labor Day each year. The Marblehead Police Department released a statement on their Facebook page reminding residents that the gas-powered leaf blower ban went back into effect on Monday for the 2024 summer season until Labor Day.

Homeowners are responsible for compliance with the bylaw, but landscapers in violation of the bylaw will be required to stop. Any willful violation of a Town Bylaw violates state law.

For those who refuse to comply with the bylaw will face a written warning on a first violation, $100 on a second violation, and a fine of $200 for any violation that follows.

The town of Marblehead is asking residents to follow leaf blower restrictions, regardless of your opinions and feelings on the issue.

The use of gas leaf blowers is permitted during the remaining periods of the year outside this time frame.
