MARBLEHEAD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Two Massachusetts towns have been ranked amongst the best coastal communities in the country by the readers of USA Today.
The USA Today Readers' Choice Awards ranked Marblehead third on the list, while Provincetown on Cape Cod was ranked fifth.
Marblehead was described as a "quaint coastal New England town" for history buffs and nature lovers, while also highlighting attractions such as the independent cinema Warwick Place and the Marblehead Neck Wildlife Sanctuary.
"Great article and I’m sure everybody’s gonna agree," one Marblehead resident told WBZ NewsRadio Tuesday. "The community comes together for everybody and it’s great to see that."
"It’s just a very comfortable place to live," another resident said.
Provincetown was ranked high due to its "eclectic mix of galleries and museums, bars and restaurants, cabarets, whale-watching opportunities, guesthouses and unique shopping experiences."
Rounding out the top five were Sandusky, Ohio at #1, Stuart, Florida at #2, and Bayfield, Wisconsin at #4.
