UPDATE: State Police said the owner of the uniform has contacted them, and thanked the public for spreading the word.

HOLDEN, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — After finding a set of dress blues on the side of the road, State Police are trying to get in touch with the Marine corporal they belong to.

State Police said Trooper Chris LaVerde found the uniform and garment bag, pictured above, on the side of Main Street in Holden near the Rutland town line around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

"He checked the interior of the garment bag as well as the uniform—there's no name listed, no identifiable markings," State Police spokesperson Dustin Fitch said. "We've stored it safely and securely, we've posted it hoping that the owner will come forward and get his uniform back, or if anybody knows someone that's missing a uniform."

The blues are in good condition, with a rifle qualification bag and several ribbons.

They are asking anyone who might know who the uniform belongs to to contact Trooper LaVerde at the Sturbridge State Police Barracks at 508-347-3352.

"We imagine that they're pretty frantic wondering where their uniform is," Fitch said.
