MARSHFIELD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A rave was held Monday night at The Ming Dynasty, a popular Chinese restaurant on Ocean Street in Marshfield.

Called 'The Ming Rave,' the event raised money to support Marshfield student scholarships.

About 250 partygoers attended the bash, enjoying Asian food and dancing to pulsating electronic beats.

The event was the brainchild of internet influencer Colby Lauria.

"You've got to live life a little bit," he said. "I stopped caring what other people think. I've got purple hair. I'm an idiot. Think what you want. I do me!"

Lauria worked closely with The Ming Dynasty owner Monica Lei Yan to make the rave happen, featuring concert-level sound systems, lighting, and DJs.

The viral pop-up event was popular, with tickets selling out in less than 10 minutes.

Lauria is also the founder of the MarshVegas Festival, an annual Marshfield event held in August that features family-friendly summer music and arts.
