3 Mashpee Firefighters Hurt In Ambulance Crash

OSTERVILLE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Three Mashpee firefighters and several others were injured when a Mashpee Fire ambulance was involved in a five-vehicle crash Monday morning.

The crash happened just after 10 a.m. on Route 28, just over the Mashpee border in Osterville.

According to the Mashpee Fire Department, the ambulance was transporting an 87-year-old man to Cape Cod Hospital on a cardiac call, and had its lights and sirens on at the time of the crash.

The three firefighters were taken to Falmouth Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. At least two other people with non-life-threatening injuries from the other vehicles were taken to Cape Cod Hospital, along with the original ambulance patient.
