Mass. DPH Confirms 3,004 New COVID-19 Cases

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Massachusetts Department of Public Health reported another 3,004 confirmed cases of COVID-19 Sunday, bringing the state's total number of confirmed cases to 516,530.

The state DPH reported another 76 deaths among COVID-19 cases in Massachusetts, upping the state's confirmed coronavirus death toll to 14,698. There have also been 301 deaths reported among probable cases of the virus in the state.

The estimated number of active cases of the virus in Massachusetts, signifying the number of patients with a confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis in the past 21 days, has dropped to 59,162, down from around 87,000 one month ago.

There are currently 1,389 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 across the Commonwealth, 318 of whom are receiving intensive care. 191 are intubated.

According to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Research Center, the U.S. has confirmed nearly 27 million cases of COVID-19, and more than 463,000 Americans have died of the virus to date.
