Mass. DPH Confirms Nearly 2,200 New COVID-19 Cases

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Massachusetts Department of Public Health reported another 2,186 confirmed cases of COVID-19 Sunday, bringing the state's total number of confirmed cases to 504,564.

The state DPH also reported another 53 deaths among COVID-19 cases in Massachusetts, upping the state's confirmed coronavirus death toll to 14,415.

There have also been 293 deaths reported among probable cases of the virus in the state.

The estimated number of active cases of the virus in Massachusetts, signifying the number of patients with a confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis in the past 21 days, has dropped to 64,431.

There are currently 1,635 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 across the Commonwealth, 335 of whom are receiving intensive care. 203 are intubated.

According to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Research Center, the U.S. has confirmed more than 26.5 million cases of COVID-19, and more than 450,000 Americans have died of the virus to date.
