CHARLTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — After a long police car chase through multiple communities, Massachusetts State Troopers arrested a man wanted on felony warrants from Maine and Illinois on Wednesday.

At 7:24 a.m. Troopers at the Massachusetts State Police-Charlton Barracks said they located a stolen vehicle at the Charlton Service Plaza on the Massachusetts Turnpike westbound, that was taken from Biddeford, Maine. Inside, officers say they spotted a man sleeping in the back seat, and when they stirred him, the suspect allegedly refused to unlock the doors of the car, a 2011 Mitsubishi Endeavor.

The MSP said that the man moved around in the vehicle, saying he could not find his keys. The suspect then suddenly turned the ignition on and drove away westbound on the Turnpike, officials say.

Troopers took off in pursuit of the suspect, who they identified as 48-year-old Kevin Oldaker of Poplar Grove, Illinois, police said. Oldaker allegedly did not pull over and used crossovers to evade cruisers in Chicopee and again in Ludlow, where he eventually exited the Turnpike and then re-entered heading west, the MSP said.

The suspect then hit a tire deflation device that Trooper had deployed earlier, which caused one of the Endeavor's tires to blow out. Police said they chased Oldaker until he stopped in Stockbridge, three miles from the New York State line. It was there that officials said the suspect refused to get out of the stolen vehicle and a brief standoff ensued.

After some time, Oldaker surrendered and was taken into custody just after 9 a.m Wednesday morning.

According to officials, the suspect is wanted on two extraditable warrants, one out of Maine that was issued last week charging Oldaker with violent stalking, and the other was issued from Illinois in 2014 which charged him with home invasion and sexual assault.

Police are processing Oldaker on his warrant and new charges at the time of posting.
