BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Commonwealth is expected to get lots of snow this winter, but they might not have enough resources to get rid of it.

According to predictions from the Farmer’s Almanac, this winter will be filled with snow. New Englanders are used to tough winters, but there are not many people looking to plow, shovel lots, or clear sidewalks.

“I thought about doing it, but I can’t afford to do it. There’s a lack of resources for people to do those [jobs],” said one resident.

Officials said the shortage is due to bad hours, expensive insurance policies and required license certifications.

“Getting insurance can be hard, getting a permit too. As an independent contractor, you don’t have as many resources as a big corporation or a city government,” said another resident.

Even if the snow doesn’t get plowed right away, one resident said he has a different plan.

“If I can’t go outside, I’ll just stay inside and get it the next day,” said the man.
