Mass State University System Will Require COVID-19 Vaccine

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Every college in the Massachusetts State University system will require its students to get vaccinated before coming to campus.

Students at Bridgewater, Fitchburg, Framingham, Salem, Westfield and Worcester State Universities will all need to be fully vaccinated before attending in-person classes, living in university dorms, or participating in campus life.

The same rules also apply to Massachusetts College of Art & Design, Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, and the Massachusetts Maritime Academy.

The nine colleges said in a statement that they are expecting all employees of the schools to be vaccinated as well.

MCLA President James Birge, chair of the system's Council of Presidents, said the state schools were making the vaccination requirement known now to give their students and staff "ample time to make plans to be vaccinated prior to the start of the fall term."

The schools will all offer in-person classes, as well as hybrid and remote options.
